The Every Student Succeeds Act
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was passed in December of 2015 and replaced No Child Left Behind. We’ve been frustrated with a lack of opportunity for educator input into federal and state education law and regulations for years. ESSA legally requires all stakeholders be at the table at the local and state level in determining each state’s regulations under ESSA. AEA has an action team that is putting together a stakeholder meeting in September and will be holding a community forum in November. Please be on the lookout for more information and how you can help ensure our new law truly does help every student succeed!
